Letter From David Zeller President, International Ranger Federation

The International Ranger Federation would like to introduce Sean Willmore, a park ranger from Victoria, Australia, who is working on an international Ranger documentary during 2004 and 2005. Sean is a member of the International Ranger Federation and of the Victorian Ranger Association, and we urge you to welcome and assist Sean in this conservation mission around the globe.

We, the International Ranger Federation lend our full support to this worthwhile project, which will highlight the vitally important and selfless work and struggle of park Rangers on the frontline of protecting and managing the natural and cultural resources of our planet earth. The sustainable conservation of these resources will provide for the well-being and prosperity of all peoples, and will contribute to peace and conciliation between peoples and nations.

This documentary will primarily be used as a motivational, training and educational tool, but will find also find a broader audience in the general public in promoting conservation and sustainable development.

It is further intended that the documentary will receive global television airtime.

We trust that you will be able to assist Sean by providing access to your parks and conservation areas and to ranger staff who could assist and work with Sean in making a truly telling story of your parks and protected areas as part of the documentary.

We would make a very special request to the corporate sponsor and donor community, in providing Sean with the funding and/or in-kind support which he requires in making this documentary possible. Sean is carrying out this project on an entirely voluntary basis and on personal funds and time – such is the altruistic nature of a Ranger. Please give Sean all the assistance you can.

The Ranger documentary will preview at the next International Ranger Federation World Congress to be held in Scotland in June 2006.
