The Impact of your donation

We’ve received a call for help from the Xingu and Tumucamaque Indigenous Ranger groups in the Brazilian Amazon. Faced with the threats of fires, illegal hunting, mining, and logging, they’re in urgent need of equipment and training. With your support, we are committed to responding to the call.

The Amazon rainforest is home to an extraordinary share of the world’s biodiversity, including many rare and endangered species. Twenty per cent of protected areas in the Amazon cover Indigenous lands, with Community Rangers working on the frontlines of conservation efforts.

The connection between conservation and traditional communities is fundamental. Capacity building for Indigenous Rangers – be they in Kenya, Sumatra, or the Amazon region – is critical.

The Thin Green Line’s train-the-trainer program, LEAD Ranger, cascades vital first-aid skills across vast regions in East Africa. This self-sustaining model has not only saved Rangers’ lives with critical-care first aid but has also saved the lives of community members across vast and remote areas.

With your help, we will take this training program deep into the Amazon. At the request of these communities, there’s a real opportunity to train female Indigenous Rangers, who are considered vital to local conservation efforts.

With your support we can strengthen traditional communities and environmental conservation.
