The terrible news of 13 Rangers killed by militia in Virunga National Park, DRC, last week has sent shockwaves through the conservation community.
The global family of Nature’s protectors is reeling from one of its worst ever times for fatalities. Over 23 Rangers have died this month, including casualties in Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, India, Mexico and Australia.
The Thin Green Line Foundation is launching a special appeal to support the families of the recently Fallen Rangers. We need your support to provide some hope and a way forward for families who have lost their father or husband, their mother or partner.
The children of Fallen Rangers need funds to continue at school. Their partners need support to establish a new livelihood in their communities, or even just to stay in the family home.
The Thin Green Line Foundation offers funds directly to the partners or parents of Fallen Rangers. Our priority is to support families in cases where government welfare or insurance is inadequate or non-existent.
We have been cautious about the timing of our appeals while we all come to terms with the Covid-19 pandemic and the sudden changes to personal circumstances affecting so many.
The terrible toll of casualties this month has prompted us to ask you for support and to take urgent action to help the families affected so suddenly across five regions of the world.
Many of the Rangers who lost their lives defending wildlife and wild places this month were relatively young. Some were highly trained and very experienced. They all put their lives on the line to protect Nature.
