2024 – The Year Ahead

2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Thin Green Line. Our flagship training program, LEAD Ranger, continues to educate and prepare the next generation of African rangers and ranger trainers, while our ongoing programs in the Amazon continue to train, equip, and empower Indigenous rangers to protect the world’s largest rainforest.

In March, Thin Green Line will welcome a group of Indigenous female rangers from Western Australia. During their stay they will engage in professional and personal development activities, preparing them to be leaders in their communities and beyond.

In October, France will host the 10^th World Ranger Congress; an important event that brings rangers together from all corners of the planet, giving them the opportunity to learn new skills, share knowledge, discuss needs and priorities, and create partnerships and connections. Usually held every three years, this will be the first World Ranger Congress since 2019 due to the pandemic. It’s Thin Green Line’s mission to ensure fair representation of rangers from Africa, Latin America, and Asia, plus Indigenous rangers from the Oceania region.

We’re also looking forward to our burgeoning work in Uganda and Oceania, with thanks to our superstar ranger supporters, Phil Wise and Amanda Dudgeon. We’ve already started distributing the funds that Phil and Amanda have raised and will continue to deliver aid funding to these areas throughout the year.
