Small Tools. Big Impact.

When we think of conservation, we often imagine bold actions or large-scale interventions. But sometimes, it’s the smallest things – a backpack, a hammock, a pair of boots – that quietly change everything.
In the second instalment of our Stories of Hope, we’re proud to share how Thin Green Line has equipped rangers in some of the world’s most at-risk environments with the gear they need not just to survive, but to succeed. And none of this would be possible without the support of Thin Green Line’s worldwide community.
In Indonesian Borneo, 19 brave rangers now patrol with proper uniforms, food supplies, water bottles, GPS units, and camera traps. All essential items for an effective ranger. Their work protects precious wildlife like orangutans, gibbons, and pangolins from the threat of hunting and illegal logging.
In Mexico’s Sierra de los Agustinos mountain range, 23 rangers received vital equipment including a motorbike, first-aid kits, and radios that will allow them to communicate with each other and the local fire brigade. Thanks to you, they also received protective uniforms designed not only for fire safety, but also to guard against venomous snake bites. With this gear, rangers are better equipped to safeguard bobcats, racoons, bats, and monarch butterflies along their migratory path.

And in a critical tiger conservation area in Thailand, 10 rangers were once camping in the jungle without protection – through heavy rains and at high risk of malaria. With new hammocks, flysheets, sleeping bags and mosquito netting, they can now rest safely as they continue guarding elephants, pangolins, and the few remaining wild tigers.

These aren’t just pieces of equipment. They’re symbols of admiration, of respect, of gratitude and – most of all – of hope.
Thank you to our worldwide community of supporters for making stories like this possible.
