Does Thin Green Line support rangers in Australia?

In recent years, Thin Green Line has extended our support programs to Indigenous rangers working within Australia. In 2017, we supported nine Indigenous rangers from the Western Desert to travel to Kenya to work alongside and share learning with Maasai rangers. See this experience in the documentary “Ranger to Ranger”, screened across Australia and aired on SBS and SBS on Demand.

We have worked closely with Indigenous managed organisations, such as the Kimberley Land Council and Indigenous Desert Alliance, to support rangers working in Indigenous Protected Areas and Native Title lands within Western Australia. We are committed to strengthening and promoting Indigenous voices within land management in Australia, and globally, and are actively supporting the Indigenous Desert Alliance to participate in international ranger exchanges and workshops from 2023-2027.

Within Australia, Thin Green Line also works alongside a variety of ranger organisations to build awareness of the vital work rangers are responsible for globally and within our region. A number of Australian ranger associations have taken part in fundraising initiatives to support their international colleagues; this includes the Tasmanian Ranger Relay, as featured in Australian Geographic.

Want to support rangers on the front lines of conservation?

We believe the practical, direct action of rangers is the most necessary and effective way to overcome the environmental challenges of our time. Thin Green Line is a global not-for-profit conservation organisation.
