Thank You, Sean

November 28, 2025

After more than 20 impactful years, Thin Green Line’s Founder Sean Willmore has decided to take on new challenges and opportunities outside of the Foundation.

As Thin Green Line’s Founder, a former park ranger and past President of the International Ranger Federation, Sean has worked tirelessly with rangers in over 80 countries, experiencing first-hand the challenges and commitment to protect the world’s special places and wildlife.

From 2007, when he founded the Thin Green Line Foundation, till now, Sean has championed the need for direct support to rangers on the frontline of conservation. He has continuously advocated for addressing the real needs of rangers to have improved access to critical training and equipment, to support rangers during emergencies and the families of those rangers tragically killed in the line of duty, as to promote the voices of rangers at national, regional and global levels.

Today, the Foundation supports nearly 6,000 rangers and their families across 30 countries and provides AU$2 million annually towards on ground action that directly supports rangers. In the face of current and emerging challenges, Sean has helped the Foundation to stay true to its mission and to continue to grow and improve its ability to deliver critical support to rangers around the world.

I hope that you the supporters who stand in solidarity with the rangers continue to do so via Thin Green Line Foundation and it’s important mission” Sean explained.

It’s been my greatest honour to serve you, my Ranger family, around the world . You and your families and communities are the heartbeat of humanity that protect our wonderful natural world….. I know that the respect for you will continue to grow, and with that we can continue to challenge the world to support your noble mission even further.” Sean continued.

“The Thin Green Line will continue Sean’s good work by maintaining the focus on direct support to rangers, the essential front line works who protect nature. We wish Sean all the best in his next endeavours”. Dr Bill Jackson – Chairman – Thin Green Line Foundation
